RELIEF Project Launches Free Training Materials to Empower the Agri-Food and Bioeconomy Workforce

The RELIEF project has released its Training Materials, now available for free download. These resources are designed to support educators, professors, and trainers in equipping learners with the skills and knowledge needed to lead the green and digital transformation of the agri-food and bioeconomy sectors.

Developed for both Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and Vocational Education and Training (VET) providers, the materials include two comprehensive curricula—each structured into 20 Learning Units. Topics covered include:

· Agricultural Sustainability

· Digital Technologies & Artificial Intelligence

· Bioeconomy and Circular Economy

· Bio-Based Products

· Controlled Environment Agriculture

· Horizontal Skills

Each Learning Unit features a detailed knowledge document, trainer-ready presentation slides, and a hands-on, work-based learning activity. Materials are available in English, Italian, Greek, Portuguese, and Swedish.

The training resources were piloted in four European countries with over 450 learners and educators, ensuring alignment with real-world challenges and teaching environments. To further support learner engagement and accessibility, the RELIEF e-learning platform offers an interactive, flexible space that complements in-person training.

As the agri-food sector faces growing pressure to operate more sustainably and efficiently, investing in human capital is essential. In line with the European Skills Agenda, the European Commission underscores the need to equip current and future professionals with the skills necessary to navigate the green transition, digital shift, and the broader development of the bioeconomy.

The RELIEF project answers this call with innovative, field-tested training pathways tailored to the evolving needs of the sector.

These open-access materials are ideal for educators, training providers, and institutions committed to empowering the next generation of professionals in shaping the future of European agriculture and the bioeconomy.
